For two decades, Hudson Valley Sanctuary has more than 200 rescued farm animals. They offer various tours suitable for even the youngest of kids (under 4). If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids, It's worth visiting the 60-foot tall grain silo-turned-kaleidoscope for a psychedelic light show experience.

Forsyth Nature Center
Forsyth Nature Center offers more than two-dozen animal exhibits and beautiful gardens. It is free and open to the public year-round. The center is a 25 minute drive from the house. Great for young kids.

Hunter Mountain
Open all year offering seasonal fun activities; Scenic Skyride and zip lining during warmer months. Ski, snow board or tube in the winter. The resort also offers ski and snow boarding classes for beginners.
Catamount Mountain Resort
Also open all year offering seasonal fun activities. My 11-year old son loves their zip line which is the longest in North America! There is also a great Ariel Adventure Park perfect for groups and families. The resort offers ski and snow tubing in the winter. It's a 50 minute drive from the house but worth going for a day trip.
